Sumac and ancho give a satisfying deep flavor to this easy to make bean burger recipe. Rice and Kidney beans provide a texture reminiscent of ground beef.

Microwave the rice with 1/4 cup of water until the rice has absorbed the water. The rice will look terrible and that is fine.

Drain and season the beans with all of the seasoning, including the salt. Microwave the beans for 5 minutes to drive off any moisture.

Mix with the rice gently then form patties and refrigerate overnight.

To heat, cook in a skillet with some olive oil until a crust forms. Overcooking the patties will cause them to fall apart.

If the patties come out soft, a tsp of corn starch can help bind the mixture together, but starch affects the texture.
