Smash burgers

A basic cheeseburger.
Directions
  • Preheat a griddle to around 450F. Toast the buns until browned and the top is warm. Remove and set aside and add a thin layer of oil to the pan.
  • Portion the meat into 3oz portions, about the size of a large meatball. Smash the patties down until very flat.
  • Cook until juices bubbleup. Scrape and flip onto a new, dry area of the pan and put medium pressure to help sear the other side. Top with American cheese on each patty.
  • After about 30 seconds, remove and stack the patties and serve on the bun with your favorite toppings.
Note
    Cheaper buns and pickles will make the burger taste more like fast food.
