Fennel and turkey come together in an easy to make recipe. These pastries use pre-bought pastry for a pastry that makes for a delicious mid-day treat.

Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
- fresh parsley, optional, a few sprigs chopped
- 1/2 pound ground turkey, or ground pork
- 1/8 cup leek, sliced thin
- oils and fat, for cooking
- 1/8 cup parmesan, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper, fresh ground if possible
- 1 pilsbury flaky crescent
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili flake, optional
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
-
Preheat the oven to 400F.
-
Cook the leeks in a splash of oil in a pan. Add the turkey, fennel, salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Cook and mash the turkey apart. Take off the heat and mix in the parmesan and parsley.
-
Open the can of crescents. Carefully stretch each crescent out to be a more even triangle. Put a spoonful of filling in and close one corner over another, then lightly press on the top to redistribute the filling. If it tears, just pinch back together.
-
Bake until evenly brown. This is a higher heat than the package states, so they could burn faster.
Note
-
Any type of filling could be used. The trick is to stretch the crescents open without tearing so they are big enough to hold the filling. Alternatively, use two crescents for a bigger pie.
